First Grade - Week of October 23

Narrative Writing Celebration IMPORTANT INFORMATION Field Trips: We will be taking five field trips this year, GRPS Planetarium, Forest Hills Performing Arts Center, Recycling Center, Van Andel Institute, and the Celebration Cinema IMAX. If you would like to volunteer to drive for any of the field trips, please complete this sign-up.  All parents will have the opportunity to join us on May 17th for the Celebration Cinema field trip. I will send out a separate form for this field trip in the spring. Our first field trip will be to the Grand Rapids Public Museum’s Planetarium on the morning of November 7. Please be sure that you’ve filled out a volunteer consent form if you plan on driving for this field trip. Classroom Volunteers: Its officially time I ask for help. :) I would love help preparing for upcoming math units and projects.   We had a wonderful surprise today from the East Grand Rapids Schools Foundation! I was granted a check for STEAM in Literacy. I can not wait to start STEAM Fridays by introducing the students to 3Doodle Pens and Keva Blocks to explore engineering within Literacy.  IMPORTANT NOTES Parent Teacher Conferences : It was so good to see so many of you last night. I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of you during Fall in-person conferences on Tuesday, October 24 . Here is the schedule for conferences. Please let me know if something comes up and you need to make adjustments to your time. Halloween : On Tuesday, October 31, please send your child to school dressed in regular school clothes, as our celebration will be held in the afternoon. The school parade will take place outside at 2:15. Parties will immediately follow. Here is the schedule for conferences. Please let me know if something comes up and you need to make adjustments to your time. Halloween : On Tuesday, October 31, please send your child to school dressed in regular school clothes, as our celebration will be held in the afternoon. The school parade will take place outside at 2:30. Parties will immediately follow.   Hearts of Gold Friday I MPORTANT NOTES Kids Have Rights: KHR teaches that all kids have body safety rights that they are entitled to no matter what. Knowledge and understanding of these rights, empowers kids to help keep themselves safe.  A KHR Educator will be visiting our classroom on Monday, October 9.
