The two we focused on this week were EA and EE. We discovered that they make the long E sound. Help point this out to your child as you read together at home.  We’ve also been reviewing the Tools for Solving Hard Words and Word Detectives Take a Closer Look strategies we were introduced to earlier this year. We’ve been focusing on not just trying ONE of these strategies but MANY of these strategies until we get the word right!   MARK YOUR CALENDAR February 14: Bring in your Shoebox Collection February 14: Valentines Day Celebration  February 16: Midwinter Break - No School - Teacher Professional Development February 19: Midwinter Break - No School March 7: Parent Teacher Conferences March 12: Parent Teacher Conferences IMPORTANT INFORMATION Shoebox Collections : For writing next week, I’m asking that each child bring in their own “collection” of something. This collection should be able to be stored neatly in a shoebox or bag that fits inside of their locker and should be anywhere between 4-6 objects. This could entail anything from shells, rocks, stickers, bracelets, trolls, baseball cards, etc. (for example: my own daughter brought in 6 Paw Patrol figures). We will be using these collections for the first couple of weeks in our opinion writing unit. Please have your child bring this collection by Wednesday, February 14.
